Recorded live at The Depot, a rehearsal/recording studio in North London in December 2003, this live album was released to coincide with the Tony Hadley vs Peter Cox and Go West UK tour in 2004. Though not strictly a 'Go West' album, this eclectic and quirky collection of songs works extremely well and the sound quality is second to none. Worth buying for Peter's version of Always On My Mind alone, it's hard to pick out a song on this album that you won't keep coming back to time and time again. |

The live recordings are competent enough and all of the songs performed have been slickly reproduced for a live crowd, but it is the two studio tracks that make this album a 'must have'.
Recorded at the Birmingham NEC show on Go West's Aces and Kings tour in 1993, the release of this album on the Blueprint label in 2001 came as something of a surprise to fans as it appeared to all and sundry that, following the release of Peter's first solo album in 1997, that Go West were all but wound up as a creative force.Whilst the release of a live album years after it was recorded is not an uncommon occurrence in the music business, the inclusion of two new studio recordings - All Day, All Night and Hangin' On For Dear Life - really sparked up interest in Go West again, with the former song being released as a single in it's own right. |

Though there have been numerous 'Best Of' albums released in the last decade, this one still remains the best overall package and should the first port of call for new fans
It's hard to fault this Go West collection so we're not going to try. This compilation brings together all of Go West's biggest hits and near-misses alongside a handful of new tracks that round out the history of Go West to perfection. It also gave rise to two hit singles in it's own right We Close Our Eyes '93 and Tracks Of My Tears. |

Following the lacklustre performance of Dancing On The Couch it would be five years before the release of Go West's third and probably most complete album Indian Summer. Though the album was a long time in the making, there is no doubting that it was very much worth the wait as Go West bounced back in some considerable style. Recorded in the US, the album reflects Go West's growing reputation as accomplished purveyors of blue-eyed pop/soul and the wide range of soulful ballads alongside the upbeat joyfulness of songs such as Faithful, a major hit in 1992, only served to re-establish Go West as one the UK's greatest musical exports of the 80s and beyond. The album gave rise to five singles The King Of Wishful Thinking, Faithful, What You Won't Do For Love, Still In Love and Tell Me (in the US). The best known song from the album, The King Of Wishful Thinking, originally featured on the multi-million selling soundtrack for the movie Pretty Woman and remains their biggest selling single to date in Worldwide terms. Of the other singles, Faithful remains a firm favourite amongst fans and
is a stalwart in Go West's live set. To my mind this album remains Go West's most accomplished album to date and is worthy of a place in music fan's record collection. |

Go Wests' second album proper was a far different beast to their all-singing, all-dancing debut. Gone were the poppy, hook-laden choruses replaced by a more mature and introspective tone. This was Go West for grown ups. The album was received indifferently by the record buying public following the relative failure of the singles True Colours and I Want To Hear It From You to make the same impact on the charts as those taken from the first
album. A third single, The King Is Dead, also struggled to gain airplay and a proposed fourth release from the album, From Baltimore To Paris, was shelved just days before it was due in the shops. If that sounds bad, then let me assure it is not all doom and gloom. This album effectively allowed Go West to reinvent themselves, moving them away from being seen as merely pop pin-ups with some catchy tunes to respected musicians and songwriters. Their growing maturity in the latter is evident right the way through this album, and the standards set in the production and musical departments would see Go West go on to be regarded as one of the most highly regarded musical outfits of their generation.

Released as a double album, Bangs and Crashes was a mixed bag of delights. Not so much a second album, Bangs And Crashes was more an extended version of their 1985 debut with a couple of extra tracks thrown in for good measure. Essentially what you have here is a collection of extended remixes of songs from their debut album plus two live tracks, Missing Persons and a cover of The Temptations' Ball Of Confusion, both recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon on their first tour. |

Comment: Go West's self-titled debut album was released to critical acclaim in 1985 and gave birth to four UK hit singles We Close Our Eyes, Call Me, Goodbye Girl and Don't Look Down (The Sequel). Eye To Eye was also lifted from the album, remixed and released as a single in the US. This debut effort remains Go West's biggest selling album to date having sold around 1.5 million copies worldwide and, almost twenty years on, still sounds surprisingly fresh thanks to some great song writing and musical performances from all concerned, not to mention Gary Stevenson's superb work behind the mixing desk. |
